SORA 200 Film Review
SORA is a 200 ISO colour negative film which is sold by FilmNeverDie.
I recently tried it for the first time while being on a short vacation in Queensland, Noosa. Originally I wanted to buy some Kodak Portra 400 or Kodak Ektar 100 for the trip. Both films are my go to colour films but neither of them was available anywhere before Christmas, so I ended up buying a few rolls of SORA 200 instead.
The film appears to be based on Kodak Vision 3 250D daylight motion picture film with the remjet layer removed so that it can be processed in standard colour C-41 process.
It has vivid colours with strong red tones and it has fine grain. I was particularly happy with the results in this frame which I took on Sunshine Beach in the evening, just before sunset. The sun was already at a very low angle and the light had turned pink which was intensified by the colour characteristics of the film.
The packaging of the film is lovely. Instead of the standard plastic packaging, FilmNeverDie uses a paper based packaging with a beautiful design.
In the description FilmNeverDie points out that the rolls may be susceptible to tiny light leaks which I can confirm. I would not see this as a disadvantage, in most cases it even adds a little to the vibe of the film.
